Meet March's Legendairy Little, Hazel Mae

Each month we donate a portion of our proceeds to a child with medical needs through the Legendairy Littles program. During the month of March 2025, we will be featuring Hazel Mae.

During a pregnancy ultrasound, it was discovered that Rainbow Baby, Hazel Mae, had cysts on her kidneys. Hazel Mae was born with her umbilical cord wrapped tightly around her neck which caused her lungs to collapse when she took her first breath. This unexpected complication forced her to be airlifted to another hospital several hours after she was born. Shortly after she was born, a diagnosis of Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) was confirmed. Because of a 31-hour labor, both Hazel and Mom had an infection, Chorio. Once transferred, Hazel spent her first week in the NICU.

Hazel has been doing well at home. She has appointments in March to monitor Kidney cyst growth as well as with a Geneticist. Her father has a genetic blood condition that can cause blood clots, which have resulted in seizures and strokes. Her family is hopeful that genetic testing can clarify whether this gene was transferred to Hazel so that she can be better monitored for future complications.

Hazel loves her crinkle ball and crinkle books. She enjoys watching herself in a mirror and chewing on fingers. Hazel’s favorite song is the Three Little Fishes song. During the month of March, Legendairy Milk will be making a donation to Hazel's family to help with her medical expenses including genetic testing.
